After Eight years, Minnesota Has a New U.S. Senate Co-sponsor of Medicare for All

It has been 8 years since Minnesota has had a US senator sign on as a co- sponsor of the Medicare for All Act. On September 12, 2017, Senator Al Franken signed on as a cosponsor of Bernie Sander's bill.

On December 2, 2025, Senator Tina Smith became the second US senator from Minnesota to
ever cosponsor Medicare for All! In doing so, she joins Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Betty
McCollum.

Please thank Senator Smith:

It is important to recognize our members of Congress for having the courage to do the right
thing. Sadly, Sen. Smith is still only the third current member of our ten US members of
Congress from Minnesota, to cosponsor Medicare for All!

If you haven’t contacted your Senator Klobuchar and your representative lately, to
encourage them to sign on, use this opportunity to let them know that they need to
join Sen. Smith in supporting the only real fix for our broken healthcare system! We must create the political will to get this done!
